Yalda Qurishy, an Assistant Quantity Surveyor at PJ Hegarty is passionate about empowering women in construction and shaping the future of construction and contributing to an inclusive workplace in construction. Currently working on two major schemes, one being Gatwick Airport, Yalda is dedicated to ensuring budget control and maximising value across projects. She reflects on the inclusive and conscientious culture at PJ Hegarty, where she was warmly welcomed. “They’ve got people from all backgrounds, and I was welcomed with open arms from day one,” she says, highlighting the diverse and supportive work environment.
Her journey into construction was driven by a desire to contribute to impactful projects that leave a lasting mark on communities and the environment. “I wanted to be part of something that makes a difference,” she shares.
Yalda encourages other women to be confident and outspoken: “Be confident and speak up—don’t be afraid to say what you think.” She believes that celebrating women’s achievements and empowering women in construction will inspire future generations to pursue careers in construction.
