TERMINAL 2 AND PIER E — DUBLIN AIRPORT

Since opening in 2010, Terminal 2 (T2) at Dublin Airport has delivered radical improvements in comfort levels — and passenger numbers. More than 100 million passengers have been welcomed to the stunning three-storey curvilinear building, which has been praised widely for its design and quality of the finish. PJ Hegarty took over the project when the terminal building was a shell and core, and we created a modern, user-friendly interior and environment that meets the highest international standards.

The new terminal is served by its own dedicated arrivals and departures roads, with an emphasis on convenience, comfort and friction-free travel. It has 58 check-in desks, catering for the growing demand for self-service. Once passengers check in and enter the departures lounge, they can browse in designer shops, and enjoy refreshments in the wide range of bars and restaurants, before going to their boarding gate.

As well as the main terminal building, the T2 project also included the new departure gate area, Pier E, which PJ Hegarty fully constructed and finished. Arriving passengers can now stay on the same level while moving easily from the gate to the new baggage reclaim area within the terminal, then on to waiting transportation options.
