The proposal was to create a new shopping centre located on an underutilised brownfield site in this busy yet historic provincial town, with the goal of stimulating the growth of Drogheda and countering out-of-town commercial development. The inner-town development required the demolition of existing structures and the construction of new buildings and a basement car park, with the additional inclusion of residential accommodation. The building’s structure is primarily reinforced concrete with transfer slabs supported by a steel frame and load bearing blockwork, with PC floor units in the apartments. The envelope is mainly precast architectural finishes with brick and reconstituted stone. The project also included the renovation of listed buildings and the restoration of an old Methodist Church.
