MSD VACCINE & BIOLOGICS STERILE FACILITY

Merck Sharp & Dohme’s Vaccine and Biologics Sterile Facility, an expansion on the existing 65-acre site originally built by PJ Hegarty in 2008, was the first standalone human vaccine project in Ireland. The new €14.5m facility is a multi-storey structure in excess of 10,000m² that marks the company’s first green-field sterile processing facility built outside the US.

Since our first contract with Boston Scientific in 1998, PJ Hegarty has successfully delivered numerous high-tech projects for the company, which is the largest medical device employer in Ireland. For this project, we were appointed main contractor for the construction of a new medical devices facility within an existing live and operational site in Cork.

IRISH EXAMINER PRINTING PLANT, CORK

PJ Hegarty was contracted to construct a new printing facility for the Irish Examiner, to house a new state-of-the-art press with increased printing capacity. The new facility was built over a period of 46 weeks at Mahon Point, at the junction of the Southern Ring Road and the Mahon Link Road, 5km from Cork city centre. Numerous titles are printed at the plant, including the Irish Examiner, the Sunday Business Post, the Evening Echo and other regional titles.

MALLINCKRODT PHARMA

MALLINCKRODT PHARMA

Construction of a new 5,200m2 research, development and manufacturing facility and corporate headquarters for Mallinckrodt Pharmaceuticals in West Dublin. The pharmaceutical facility was constructed on a green field site, PJ Hegarty was awarded the initial enabling contract, followed by phase 2, which involved the construction of the manufacturing building and office block. Followed by phase 3, and extension to the office block containing offices and research labs. The project was handed over on a phased bases, meaning that construction work was going on in a live facility.

PIER E SHELL AND CORE, DUBLIN AIRPORT

As well as finishing the Terminal 2 building, PJ Hegarty was also awarded the shell and core contract to construct the 400-metre departures gate area, Pier E. The total floor area is 25,000m² over three floors.
