5 Apr 2022

PJ Hegarty & Sons are proud to be entering into contract with Gatwick Airport (GAL) to construct the new Echo Romeo RET (Rapid Exit Taxiway) in the heart of Gatwick Airport.

Gatwick Airport operates the busiest single runway airport in the world, the second largest airport in the UK & the tenth busiest international airport globally.

Scope of the award –

The approximate area of the new Taxiway is 17,000m2 & the construction will require:

22,000t of Dry Lean Mix Concrete (DLC) pavement road base,

8000t of  high specification Marshall Asphalt surfacing,

New AGL (Above Ground Lighting) to include F900 spec. pits, ducting & Luminaires,

New pavement drainage system,

Pavement Grooving

Stop Bar installation to Taxiway Juliet & Aviation signage.

In addition to agreed daytime working periods, runway possessions will be granted 5 nights per week & all works will be delivered whilst maintaining Gatwick’s demanding flight schedule. The works will demand incredibly high standards of safety & security, required for working in this “ultra live” Airside environment.

We look forward to fully embracing Gatwick Airport’s “Destination Zero” Programme.
